Fadel Zeidan, Ph.D. & Noriko Morita Harth
The workshop will be offered online.
There has been recent, dramatic surge in mindfulness-based interest in the mainstream and scientific literature. In the fog of these findings, it has been difficult to isolate research findings that are deemed rigorous and/or validated. Thus, this innovative-all day workshop will provide an easily digestible description of the latest and most rigorous contemplative science on the health promoting effects of mindfulness. Dr. Fadel Zeidan, cognitive neuroscientist, will delineate a comprehensive, yet-user-friendly delineation of the psychological and neural mechanisms supporting the modulation of stress and promotion of health by mindfulness-based practices. This workshop will also integrate formalized scientific didactics with guided mindfulness meditation based practices by Mrs. Noriko Harth, one of the leading mindfulness facilitators, and the Managing Director, at UC San Diego’s Center for Mindfulness. Mrs. Harth will guide participants in a spectrum of mindfulness practices that have been found to improve stress and health. This day will be rich in scientific and meditative exploration. Importantly, 5.5 continuing medical education credits will be offered. Although this is a “stand-alone” workshop, it is part of a 3-part Science of Mindfulness Series that will also describe the effects and practice of mindfulness and compassion meditation on pain and well-being, respectively.
